Summer Workshops at the Civic Museum

A summer of creativity, exploration, and fun!
The series of evening workshops for children and teens (ages 5-13) returns, focusing on art, history, and fantasy. Each event is an opportunity to learn through play, with engaging activities inspired by the history of Sanremo, colors, and great artists.

The Program:

Wednesday, August 13 – 9:00 PM
Art Workshop THE CITY IN UPSIDES. CREATE YOUR OWN INVISIBLE
CITY (ages 8-13)
The city reconstructed like a puzzle: streets, buildings, and urban spaces are dismantled and
reassembled in a new scenic vision. Mixed-media creation of a small
scenography of the city of Sanremo. Workshop inspired by Italo
Calvino’s “Invisible Cities.” “…The Great Khan’s mind set out on its own and, dismantling the city piece by piece,
rebuilt it in another way, replacing ingredients, moving them,
inverting them…” (Italo Calvino, “Invisible Cities”).

Wednesday, August 20 – 9:00 PM
Art Workshop COLORS IN PLAY (ages 5-13)
A playful and entertaining approach to the world of painting in which colors
are used imaginatively to create new forms and to reinterpret, with large
colored polka dots, animals and characters from the world of illustration. Tempera paints
mix with water, creating ever-new effects and arousing wonder in the
children’s eyes.

Wednesday, September 3 – 9:00 PM
Archaeological Workshop GETTING TO KNOW THE FIRST SANREMO PEOPLE (ages 8-12)
Short guided tour of the archaeological collections for parents and children. Hands-on workshop on recognizing prehistoric tools and their uses. The evolution of
stoneworking from the Paleolithic to the Neolithic, from the chopper to the biface,
arrowheads, and the polished stone axe. Practical recognition of the bones of
prehistoric animals, a primary source of food for Paleolithic man. Children
will be able to experience hands-on contact with real artifacts (normally
visible only in the museum display cases) and try using them themselves.

Saturday, September 13 – 9:00 PM
ANTONIO RUBINO Art Workshop. LET’S DECORATE THE SEA (ages 5-13
years)
Sanremo artist Antonio Rubino is presented through the drawings that have made
his artistic production unique. Fish, anemones, and starfish are colored and
decorated with pearlescent grains to recreate the shimmer of the sea. The individual fish,
created through individual work, are then glued onto a large blue surface. Thus was born
a collective work, extremely varied in its choice of shapes and
colors.

Saturday, September 20 – 9:00 PM
Art Workshop THE CITY IN UPSIDES. CREATE YOUR OWN INVISIBLE
CITY (ages 8-13)
The city reconstructed like a puzzle: streets, buildings, and urban spaces dismantled and
reassembled in a new scenic vision. Mixed-media creation of a small
