In reality, the actual Monta gate no longer exists, but the steep, straight passageway may be clearly identified. Indeed, the term Mont\u00e0. means \u201cclimb\u201d and in effect, the access way is particularly steep. Located along the road leading from the Mont\u00e0 is the Sapia palace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The building was the property of one of Sanremo\u2019s most important families, and the interior is decorated with an eighteenth century scene in the style of Maurizio Carrega (1737 &#8211; post 1819).
