As a solo artist and collaborator with jazz giants such as Dizzy Gillespie and Wayne Shorter, for over three decades Grammy Award-winning Panamanian pianist and composer Danilo P\u00e9rez has been acclaimed as one of the most creative forces in contemporary music. With jazz as its foundation, his Global Jazz is a fusion of Panamanian roots, Latin American folk music, West African rhythms, and European impressionism\u2014promoting music as a boundless, multidimensional bridge between all people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 1993, P\u00e9rez has released twelve albums that have earned critical acclaim and numerous awards worldwide. He received the Doris Duke Artist Award in 2021, the United States Fellowship in 2018, and the Smithsonian Legacy Award in 2009. For nearly twenty years, P\u00e9rez has been part of the Wayne Shorter Quartet, alongside bassist John Patitucci and drummer Brian Blade. This final ensemble led by Shorter is recognized as a unique and dominant force in improvised music, both for its historic live performances and its recordings. In 2018, Blue Note Records released the long-awaited EMANON<\/em> by the Wayne Shorter Quartet, which won the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Album in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
